Game Changer Review
The highly anticipated political action thriller Game Changer starring Ram Charan lives up to its expectations. It attempts to weave a social message into its narrative and also delivers an unpredictable narrative. While it has moments of grandeur with its lavish locations, the strong script makes it an impactful entertainer it aspires to be. Â
The story follows Ram Nandan (played by Ram Charan), an angry young man who undergoes a journey of self-realization to become a responsible IAS officer. Along the way, he wins over his girlfriend (played by Kiara Advani) who teaches her to fight against his anger and channelise into helping the needy. The story takes a turn with entry of corrupt politician Bobbili Mopidevi (played by S. J. Suryah) in the story and his quest to bring about societal change to become the next Chief Minister. With potential of its premise, Game Changer showcases a tale with strong execution and originality. Â
What Works
Directed by S. Shankar, the large-scale production values add a layer of grandeur and lavishness to the set-up. What’s great to watch is Ram Charan as the actor brings intensity to his role and the emotion, action-packed moments. His transformation arc, though predictable, is portrayed with sincerity.  Also, the Hindi dialogue delivery of S.J. Suryah as Bobbili Mopidevi, who is the antagonist of the film is strong, and he manages to steal the spotlight in several scenes.Â
What Doesn’t Work
The political story offers nothing new in terms of character arcs. The film drags in several portions, especially in the second half. The end speech of Ram is a tedious watch. Â
Technical Analysis
Director Shankar with amazing visuals find a balance between storytelling and spectacle. The cinematic visuals are striking, with high production values evident in every frame. However, the glossy presentation compensate for the strong storyline.  Also, the background score of the film, does leave a lasting impression. Â
Star Performances
Ram Charan showcase his A-game in the political drama with his physicality and screen presence. His depth of character shines his ability to truly rule the silver screen. On the other hand, Kiara Advani’s role is reduced to being his love interest but an important part of the narrative.
While, the other supporting character such as S. J. Suryah (the antagonist), delivers a compelling performance, also Anjali, Samuthirakani, and Srikanth do their best with the limited part in the given story.
Conclusion
Game Changer boasts spectular visuals and power-packed performances from Ram Charan and S. J. Suryah, it is sky high by it’s unpredictable and strong script. Shankar’s direction brings freshness to the narrative, resulting in a outstanding experience. Overall, Game Changer is a must-watch drama to look forward to in theaters.
